since 2012

Until 2016, I made a real effort to put into words what I was going through as a student. Evaluating, sharing experiences, and building a network for opportunities as a young artist. Blogging in my case was a way of journaling publicly, and somewhat beneficial to personal and professional growth. I realise that even more today than I did back then.

The blog also was also an unexpected fundraising success, helping my family with training expenses and enabling me to attend summer courses in Copenhagen (2015) and Tokyo (2014).

It’s 2016

Sending out a warm wish to you all for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. I celebrated the end of 2015 in Bordeaux, after finishing 15 performances of Sleeping Beauty on December 30st. A real good NYE with new…

Bonjour Bordeaux

It has been a while since my last post but I seem to have only just found some time to log back onto here. I am making the most of a quiet day after my first week of work at…

An early start

My first stop on the road to finding a job was in France, where I was given the chance to join class at the company in Bordeaux. The class took place on the sloped stage of the Opera house. Despite…

‘Make your own luck’

The title of this post are the words said by the Graduate’s form teacher who gives us weekly career planning talks. I believe it is a very appropriate reflection on what we must do when it comes to creating opportunities…

It’s happening

I can easily say that it has been one of the toughest first weeks back from a break, but it has been a good push and therefore full-length days won’t hit us quite as hard next week. Once my body…

Update

I am now a few weeks into my final Term of 2nd Year, enjoying the arrival of summer in our vibrant Covent Garden. Rehearsals at Upper School are becoming progressively more frequent and intense in preparation for our end of…

2nd Term of 2nd Year

After an intense ten-week term, I am now on my Easter break. Apologies for the inactivity on the blog lately, my time has been taken up by our dance assessments, Btec assignments and various other commitments. Being able to publish…

Upcoming at school

It’s that time of year already where at The Royal Ballet School we start to prepare for our annual dance assessments. The exams will take place in just over a month and we will be appraised in classical, variation, pas…

2015

And yet another year has begun. I hope it is a happy and prosperous one for all. The first term ended well and I am now into the last week of my Christmas break at home in Italy. After nearly three…

Mid-Term Update

My second to last year of training has started well. An extended timetable as well as various other changes to the School’s system of training have been introduced with an aim to maximise the outcome of our tuition; as a…

End of Summer

As I mentioned in my previous post, I consider three weeks off ballet a very long break. Well indeed it was, and following a tough first day of summer school at Ateneo Danza, a few days of an aching body…

August Summer School

Since returning from Tokyo I have enjoyed three restful weeks at my new home in the Lake Como region. Here you can appreciate two contrasting lifestyles; being along the waterfront as well as being high up in the mountains, with…

July in Japan

My trip to Japan was quite a surreal happening. I travelled there and back on my own, [which made it seem like an even more exciting adventure] for an unforgettable first visit to this unique country. I was lucky to…

A quick update from Tokyo

After our amazing end of year performance at the Royal Opera House last Saturday I travelled to Japan where I am thoroughly enjoying a new life experience and extra ballet training. I am staying with the very kind family of…
