Phyllis Bedells Bursary 2013

I really enjoyed taking part in the bursary competition at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea today. It was another great opportunity to perform – always a valuable experience.

Entry was open to those who had passed the RAD Advanced 1 examination with Distinction. There were 34 competitors split into two sessions. I was in the first group, leaving White Lodge with several of my classmates at 7.15am this morning. After stretching there was a placing call for our solos and a warm-up barre before lunch. Then at 1pm we performed a demonstration class, followed by two solo pieces each.

The second group’s demonstration started at about 3.45pm, with the award ceremony bringing the competition to a close at 6.30pm. Well done to my classmate, Daniel Harrison, who truly deserved the prize.
