Aunt Louise, who lives in New Zealand, is an artist. She mainly paints landscapes, but when she last visited us in Italy a few years ago, she took a couple of photos of me that she has since used as a basis to create artwork.
The two paintings pictured were turned into greeting cards with pretty envelopes of silver and gold. Although she sells the original paintings, much of her work is used in this way and for limited edition prints. My Aunt is in the process of creating a website named Waimiha Cards after the beautiful, remote area where she lived for twenty years.
Aunt Louise is visiting us again this year. She will spend some time in the Lake District and in Italy, visiting friends and relations and absorbing inspiration for her paintings. The life of an artist is not easy and my Aunt often needs to find part-time work to support her income. I am very proud of her and can’t wait to see her again next June.
