Stomp – rhythm with resonance

Yesterday our GCSE Music Group were treated to a day out in London by Mrs Brice, Head of Music at our School. Lunch in Covent Garden was followed by an afternoon at the Ambassadors Theatre to see the insanely inventive show STOMP.

Although I wouldn’t call this ‘street theatre’ a musical, it does use the most surprising everyday items in a mainly percussive manner to make plenty of sound. Add in some visual humour, clever choreography and  audience participation for an explanation as to why our lively group returned happily homewards, tapping on everything within reach.

Sorry about all that tapping Mrs Brice, a huge thank you too for a fun day out. Our school just won’t be the same after you leave us next month and I wish you all the best for a long and happy retirement.

Visit the Stomp page on Wikipedia for information about the origins of this dance troupe or book to see a performance at the Ambassadors Theatre here.
